The Mama AgudZE II Reading PRogram

The Mama Agudze II Reading Program is an early literacy initiative of the Addae Family Foundation focused on nurturing a love of reading and strengthening foundational literacy skills among young children in Ghana.

The program promotes early exposure to books and positive reading experiences by:
  • Providing age-appropriate, culturally relevant books
  • Encouraging shared reading between children and caregivers
  • Supporting early language and literacy development

We recognize that literacy begins long before formal schooling and is shaped by consistent, supportive environments at home and in the community.

Early literacy is closely linked to long-term educational success. Limited access to books and reading materials can place children at a disadvantage before they ever enter the classroom. The Mama Agudze II Reading Program works to close this gap by helping children build strong reading foundations early.

Our goal is to increase access to books, encourage family-centered reading habits, and support children in developing the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.
